Since its inception, ABCHealth has forged partnerships with key institutions including the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and, more recently, with the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) in its drive to build strong platforms upon which businesses in Africa can explore pathways to make informed decisions on critical health impact investments within Africa.
For instance, through collaborative efforts, the Coalition is currently executing a number of initiatives, including the second edition of the Healthcare and Economic Growth in Africa Report: Doing Health differently during and beyond COVID-19 (HEGA II). The technical paper was presented at the Africa Investment Summit on Health hosted virtually by ABCHealth and UNECA in collaboration with the National Institutes of Health (NIA) on the margins of the 76th United Nations General Assembly in 2021.
So during the summit, the Coalition collaboratively launched the West Africa AfCFTA-anchored Pharma Initiative; a programme designed to foster the local manufacturing of medicines, medical equipment and health ancillaries.
Through other partnerships, ABCHealth is championing the Africa Investment (Health) Masterclass – an initiative specifically designed to support health entrepreneurs and businesses. The changes that governments and businesses desire to impact on Africa are within reach, but it will take cohesive action. This is why ABCHealth is calling all stakeholders to join the Coalition today and join other business leaders to drive this wind of change that would improve health outcomes and save lives in our continent.
